One Direction is finally speaking out about the exit of Zayn Malik from their hit boy band. Besides the twitter war that erupted between Louis Thomlinson and Malik, the band hasn’t said too much about the dramatic exit of their former band member.
The band made an appearance on The Late Show With James Corden on Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Los Angeles.
One Direction members, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson spoke openly about the exit with Tomlinson speaking about the Twitter feud saying,
“There’s a bit back and forth. We’re on good terms with him. I’ve never been very good at biting me tongue. It’s just one of those things. Twitter’s great for connecting with fans, also if you feel like saying something, you probably shouldn’t.” He continued by saying, “Yeah, it’s all resolved.”
Liam spoke about Zayn’s exit from the group saying,
“At first we were a little bit angry, we were surprised. I think we all knew the general vibe that Zayn was feeling.” He continued, “You could sort of tell. There’s certain parts of this job Zayn loved and there’s certain parts you didn’t. If you don’t like the job, you have to follow your heart sometimes and go where you need to go. Theres no arguing with that. We were angry at first and then it was just more disappointed. We wish him the best of luck with whatever he gets up to. There’s no hard feelings. It’s just going to carry on as usual.”
When asked if they thought about dissolving the band, the group said “no.” And Harry said they never thought about replacing Zayn either. James Corden was hinting that he would make a great replacement for Zayn but Harry was having none of it, saying they were going to call Reggie, who is Corden’s house band.
We also saw James play dodgeball with the band on the team, Corden’s Angels. Niall revealed he always wanted to be a dodgeball player, he never planned on being a singer. James trained the band members, who all spoke about being dodgeball obsessed. Corden said, “The Beatles were nothing until they played dodgeball, the rolling stones were nothing until they played dodgeball.”
Corden’s pep talk included telling One Direction about the girls they are playing against, who are talking smack about the band, saying they don’t know how to play dodgeball and are laughing at them. Corden told the boys, “They are going to know we know how to play dodgeball when we are smashing our balls in their faces.”
Corden’s Angels played against the female team, Ball Busters and lost 2-1.
We have the complete interview and the dodgeball game on the next page.
