It looks like all those rumors about Katy Perry and Taylor Swift not getting along may be true after all. There have been whispers that the two Grammy winning artists couldn’t stand each other but Perry all but verified the rumor with a simple tweet.
Taylor Swift and Nikki Minaj got into a Twitter war when Minaj spewed a slew of tweets about the fact she didn’t receive a nomination for Video of the Year for MTV’s VMA Awards. One of her tweets seemed to be a direct shot at Swift saying, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.” Swift took that tweet as directed at her and she responded with, “@NICKIMINAJ I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”
A couple of celebrities weighed in on the Twitter feud with Aaron Paul tweeting a cute message to the ladies saying,
“Dear @taylorswift13 and @NICKIMINAJ, I love you both. How about we all get together and talk this thru? Coffee? Pancakes??”
Bruno Mars also got in on the twitter war, joking around about it before Katy Perry took to Twitter to call Swift out saying,
“Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…”
Was the tweet just Perry just sticking up for her friend, Nikki Minaj? Perry has posted photos with Minaj on Instagram before with messages saying, “LADIES OF THE ROAD MUST STICK TOGETHER & SUPPORT EACH OTHER! ✈️
@nickiminaj” or was this just an opportunity to take a jab at her arch nemesis, Taylor Swift?
So what happened between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry? While it has never been confirmed by either party, Swift allegedly hired some back up dancers for her tour who were working for Perry at the time.
This isn’t the first time Perry has taken a swipe at Swift, there was a tweet a while back where Perry said, ‘be careful of the wolf in sheep’s clothing.’ That shade was said to be about Swift, as well.
What do you think about what Perry had to say to Swift? Does it make Perry look catty. Wouldn’t she have been better off just staying out of it? Or is this just Perry’s way of reminding fans that while she wasn’t involved in this Twitter war she is still relevant? She should take a page from Beyonce and stay out of it. Even when Minaj tried to drag Beyonce into the argument, Beyonce remained silent.
