After somewhat silent about Zayn Malik’s departure from his group – One Direction – one of the guys is speaking out.
Liam Payne said in an interview on Capital Breakfast Show yesterday that Zayn left because “it’s like any job – sometimes you have to move on because you’re not enjoying what you’re doing as much.”
It definitely seems like that’s the case, since Zayn left the group in the middle of a world tour a couple of months ago. However, his departure took place just a couple of days after being spotted holding hands and looking cozy with a woman who was decidedly not his fiancee, Perrie Edwards of the all-girl group Little Mix.
☀️Zayn and Perrie got engaged in 2013, and while the two haven’t announced a wedding date, it has been speculated that they might be getting married this summer at Disney. Naturally, then, Zayn’s outing with the non-Perrie woman was not well received. Perrie was pictured out and about looking glum for a few days, before Zayn quit the group and jetted back to London to be with her. Since then, the couple have been spotted together in public a few times, and although Zayn has remained quiet (well, somewhat) on social media, Perrie has been posting frequent pictures of the couple on Instagram, looking as happy and loved up as ever.
Whatever happens, Zayn is likely to be set for life. He will, of course, get royalties for any continued and future success One Direction has for any of the four albums they’ve already put out and, depending on his involvement, may even see some royalties from the fifth album – which the band is working on now – if he has any song writing credits or has already recorded any vocals on completed tracks.
